The Heights Foundation works to build strong, self-sufficient families in the Harlem Heights neighborhood in Fort Myers, Florida. Our mission is to support education and wellness, promote family and community development, and provide the benefits of enrichment and the arts. The foundation is a grassroots, hands-on organization that celebrates the strength and diversity of the community.eights
What We Do
Our Goals:
- Develop responsive, holistic family development opportunities benefiting the residents of Harlem Heights
- Work in collaboration with organizations to meet community needs in an efficient, comprehensive manner
- Advance economic self-sufficiency through occupational training, adult education, and employment support
- Promote community connections and preserve cultural heritage, honoring the strengths and assets community members possess
- Provide a web of learning and enrichment opportunities to learners of all ages
- Support wellness and personal growth including health advocacy and support for vulnerable members of the community
- Foster the benefits of consistent, inclusive access to the expressive and cultural arts
- Enrich learning, play, and expressive opportunities with values, character, and integrity

Community Outreaches
- Spring Gathering
- Back to School Outreach
- Thanksgiving Outreach (Bountiful Blessings)
- Toy Drive Holidays Outreach
School Success Programs
- Heights Community Charter School - volunteers can assist teachers in the classroom.
- After School - volunteers can assist with homework, reading, and other recreational activities/games.
- MOSAIC Music Program - musically trained volunteers can assist in music lessons.
- Heights Early Learning - volunteers can assist in classrooms or read to early learners (age 3-5).
Senior Citizens Program
- Assist in activities/games and serve lunch.
Adult Classes
- GED tutoring
- English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring
- Microsoft 101 workshops
Summer Camp
- Volunteer as a camp counselor for Summer Camp, help lead games and activities
